Qarth is a vast and ancient city on the southern coast of Essos, at the gateway between the Jade Sea and the Summer Sea. One of the wealthiest cities in the known world, built on trade and mystery, its white walls have welcomed merchants, sorcerers, and wanderers for thousands of years.

The Thirteen
Qarth is governed by a merchant council known as the Thirteen — the city's most powerful citizens. Entry requires the sponsorship of a member.
The Warlocks of Qarth
A mysterious order of sorcerers drawing power from the House of the Undying. Their lips are stained blue from drinking shade-of-the-evening. Led by Pyat Pree, they lured Daenerys into their labyrinthine palace to feed on the power of her dragons — until she burned it to the ground.
Daenerys in Qarth
Fleeing the Red Waste with her khalasar and three young dragons, Daenerys arrived at the gates of Qarth in Season 2. Welcomed by Xaro Xhoan Daxos, she sought ships to reclaim the Iron Throne — but was betrayed, her dragons stolen. She recovered them, destroyed the House of the Undying, and locked Xaro in his own impenetrable vault before sailing away.
